Commission Status: Closed for commissions
What types of commissions will I do?
- Cover art, book and magazine illustrations, interiors
- RPG Character illustrations
- Portrait work (portraits, fantasy portraits, role playing portraits)
- General illustration work for personal or commercial use
Please keep in mind the type of artwork displayed in my gallery as to the styles I work in, and the subject matter I generally do:.
- General fantasy themes including fairies, elves, mermaids, knights, maidens, fairy tales, castles, unicorns, dragons
- historically inspired work such as Medieval, Elizabethan, Renasissance, Regency and Victorian
- Sci-fi and urban fantasy
I prefer not to do design and layout work. I have the right to refuse any commission for any reason, but in particular requests for copyrighted/ trademarked characters, work of an offensive nature, or working in a style that I do not do.
See the Step by Step Commission page for further details on what is involved in a commission.
What media I work in:
Watercolours, Digital art, Graphite pencil, Acrylic painting (on watercolour paper or unstretched canvas)
Sizes I work in:
I generally work to standard photo sizes for traditional pieces, though I can work larger for acrylics on canvas:
- ACEO - 2.5 x 3.5"
- 4 x 6"
- 5 x 7"
- 8 x 10"
- 9 x 12"
- 11 x 14"
Digital pieces can be any size for web delivery, however I generally don't work larger than 9 x 12" @ 300dpi.
Please note, the size of the piece may restrict the subject matter and complexity of the image.
Delivery times:
I can work to deadline, however I need to know up front as I work full time. I cannot guarantee delivery dates if you have not specified it before I start work. Generally once work has begun, pieces are completed between 4 and 8 weeks, with several approval stages (thumbnails, lineart & colour concept, final artwork). An estimated delivery time is given at the beginning of the commission.
Price Guide/ Commission Rates:
Prices are based on media used, complexity of image, size of artwork and any special conditions such as printing rights or rush orders. My current rates are available on the Commission Rates page. On average, prices range between USD $50 & $500
Payments:
I accept payments through PayPal in either US or Australian dollars (this includes credit card transactions). Australian customers, I can accept direct deposit payments in Australian dollars. Due to processing costs I don't accept cheques or money orders. I do not start work on a painting until payment clears, though you don't need to pay until I'm ready to start your piece.
Full payment for commisions under $100 is required up front. 50% is non-refundable once commission begins.
At least 50% payment is required up front for commissions over $100. This payment is non-refundable once commission begins.
Refunds:
Refunds are not available on commissions (unless I have not begun work on your piece). Once a commission has begun and payment accepted, the deposit (50% of the total commission price) is non-refundable. If the commission is completed and has been sited, no refund is available. Commissioned pieces will be replaced if damaged in transit - but only if the item has been transported by registered/insured mail.
Shipping:
Shipping is included in the quote provided, and generally Registered or insured mail through Australian Post is recommended. I do not use couriers.
Rights and Publishing:
Unless negotiated, all printing and publishing rights remain mine. I maintain the right to display the work in my gallery, and make prints and derivative products (except portrait work displaying a person's likeness where permission is sought). If you wish to use the work commercially, an additional fee will be required. I do not sell full copyright on any artwork commissioned.
